Good times
Oh my, how I missed these stories. Introduced these books to 10 y old son, and he loved it. With these books , It is a way to keep kids from those numerous sick potty humor cartoons on TV along with just plain stupid modern cartoon publications. Special thanks to the seller, PBShop UK, for prompt delivery, amazing packaging, clean/sharp/ crisp books!! Guys, you rock, if I see you in future in “ seller” selection, I will always buy books from you.
They are well written and beautifully illustrated, witty and very entertaining
I read these comics as a child over and over again. They are well written and beautifully illustrated, witty and very entertaining. The story follows the members of a small village in Gaul whom resist the Roman Empire by virtue of a super-strengthening potion brewed by their druid Getafix. The heros of the stories are Asterix ( a short, but smart warrior) and his best friend Obelix ( a large, boar meat loving, loyal but not smart warrior whom fell in a cauldron of magic potion as a child and as a result has permanent super strength). You can read each comic seperately and be able to follow the story, though certain characters do repeat throughout the series. I am buying them again as an adult and enjoying them just as much as I did as a kid. I definitely recommend these comics.
Great for 8yrs and up
Every birthday or Christmas, my son always request an Asterix book. He loves the humor and enjoys the stories over and over again
Love these books. Like the "Omnibus" format (3 in 1)
Loved these books as a kid (grew up in Europe.) Excited to find them in "Omnibus" format (3 in 1) to make them more economical. Love reading them with my daughter.
My goddaughter loves this book.
My 8 year old goddaughter has fallen in love with Asterix. I bought this for her as a Christmas present, and her parents tell me she dove into it for the rest of the day, and then re-read it again the next day. These stories are well told and charmingly illustrated. They also convey a lot of history and culture in an entertaining way.
Really like these
Cool, should have read these a long time ago.
great for encouraging emerging readers, especially boys
This series gets my 8 year old son reading - the stories are funny, richly illustrated, and deal with topics of history, politics, and other good stuff without being preachy. Originally published in the 1970's in Europe - I grew up reading this stuff - so glad it made its way over to the US.
My granddaughters love this story as much as I do and my daughters did years ago
My granddaughters love this story as much as my daughters loved reading the original Italian version when they were at the same age. I myself enjoyed also the original French version, and I think I have almost all the Asterix books published in the Italian edition.
Five Stars
